Long Run COB LED Strip Light for Commercial Projects

Plan long run COB LED strip projects with 24V selection, voltage drop control, power feed planning and 30m COB options.

The short answer

Long run COB LED strip can be used for commercial linear lighting, but the project still needs correct voltage, wattage, driver capacity, cable planning and voltage drop control.

For long continuous runs, 24V COB options and special long-run structures can reduce installation complexity, but sample testing and power planning remain important.

Why long runs are difficult

As LED strip length increases, current, cable resistance and voltage drop can create uneven brightness. This is true for COB strips as well as SMD strips.

A smooth COB light surface does not remove the need for electrical planning. The far end can still dim if the power feed and wire size are not suitable.

Why 24V is often preferred

24V strips can carry the same power with lower current than 12V strips, which helps reduce voltage drop over longer project runs.

For cove lighting, long shelves, hotel corridors and commercial profiles, 24V is often easier to manage than 12V.

When to consider 30m COB LED strip

A 30m COB LED strip option can be useful for projects that need longer continuous installation with fewer joints. It can simplify sourcing and reduce visible interruptions when used correctly.

Buyers should still confirm wattage per meter, power feed method, voltage drop, heat, IP rating and whether the installation requires factory-prepared lengths.

Power feed and driver planning

Calculate total wattage by multiplying power per meter by length, then add reserve capacity for the driver. Long runs may need power injection, larger wire or multiple power feeds.

Before installation, test the full planned length or a representative run inside the intended profile to check brightness consistency and heat.

Quotation checklist

Send the supplier total length, continuous run length, voltage, wattage target, CCT, CRI, IP rating, power supply position, cable route, profile type, dimming method and quantity.

For repeat commercial projects, keep model code, bin, roll length, cable exit and packing details documented for future orders.

FAQ

How long can COB LED strip run?

It depends on voltage, wattage, strip design, wire size and power feed method. Long runs need voltage drop planning.

Is 24V better for long run COB strip?

Usually yes for longer runs, because 24V can reduce current and help manage voltage drop.

Can I use one driver for a long COB run?

Sometimes, but total wattage, reserve capacity, cable length and power injection must be checked.
